Sri Lanka Cultural Triangle Discovery

A concise, beautifully paced circuit through the heart of Sri Lanka’s ancient heritage – connecting the great sacred city of Anuradhapura, the rock fortress of Sigiriya, the medieval ruins of Polonnaruwa, the cave temples of Dambulla, and the cultural capital of Kandy in a five-night journey that delivers the very best of the island’s UNESCO World Heritage sites.

Day 01 - Arrival - Negombo

A relaxed airport arrival and transfer to Negombo for the first night – the coastal town’s pleasant seafront and easy character providing the ideal introduction to Sri Lanka before the cultural journey northward begins.

Day 02 - Anuradhapura & Sigiriya Region Arrival

The scenic drive through Kurunegala’s countryside landscapes leads to a full afternoon’s guided exploration of Anuradhapura – the sacred Sri Maha Bodhi Tree, the towering Ruwanwelisaya Stupa, and the ancient monastic ruins that speak to over a thousand years of Sri Lanka’s spiritual and architectural achievement. Evening arrival in the Sigiriya region allows time to relax and prepare for the iconic morning ahead.

Day 03 - Sigiriya Rock Fortress & Polonnaruwa Ancient City

An early morning ascent of Sigiriya Rock Fortress – the 5th-century sky palace whose ancient water gardens, remarkable frescoes, and panoramic summit views make it one of the great archaeological experiences in all of Asia – is followed by an afternoon in Polonnaruwa, where the Gal Vihara’s colossal Buddha sculptures and the Royal Palace ruins reveal the medieval Sinhalese kingdom at its creative peak.

Day 04 - Dambulla Cave Temple, Matale Spice Garden & Kandy

The Dambulla Cave Temple complex – five ancient painted caves visited in the morning light before the day’s heat builds – is followed by a spice garden tour in Matale that brings Sri Lanka’s colonial-era spice trade heritage to vivid, aromatic life. An afternoon arrival in Kandy allows time for a guided visit to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic and the evening’s cultural dance performance.

Day 05 - Peradeniya Gardens, Pinnawala & Colombo

Peradeniya Royal Botanical Gardens in the morning – 147 acres of one of Asia’s finest botanical collections – is followed by the drive toward Colombo via Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, where the resident herd’s river bathing provides a memorable wildlife encounter before the final arrival in the capital for an evening visit to Gangaramaya Temple.

Day 06 - Colombo & Airport Departure

A final morning in Colombo for any remaining shopping, a last temple visit, or simply the pleasure of a relaxed hotel breakfast before the private transfer to Bandaranaike International Airport.
