Tea Country & Highland Heritage Journey

A comprehensive highland journey through Sri Lanka’s most celebrated cultural and scenic landscapes – combining the sacred city of Kandy, the extraordinary tea country of Nuwara Eliya and Haputale, the iconic mountain town of Ella, a south coast beach finale, and a Colombo heritage day into one beautifully paced circuit designed for travellers who want to experience the full depth of Sri Lanka’s highland character.

Day 01 - Arrival - Negombo

Airport arrival and transfer to Negombo for a comfortable first night on the coast before the highland journey begins.

Day 02 - Colombo to Kandy - Cultural Capital Arrival

The scenic drive from Colombo to Kandy introduces the island’s gradually changing landscape – rubber plantations giving way to paddy fields and the first tea estate slopes as the road climbs toward Sri Lanka’s cultural capital. An afternoon arrival allows time for an initial exploration of the Kandy Lake lakeside and the atmospheric streets surrounding the Temple complex.

Day 03 - Kandy - Temple, Lake & Cultural Day

A guided morning visit to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic during the atmospheric daily puja ceremony, followed by a peaceful lakeside walk and an afternoon at leisure exploring Kandy’s craft shops, local restaurants, and heritage buildings that reveal the living character of Sri Lanka’s most culturally significant highland city.

Day 04 - Peradeniya Gardens, Tea Country & Nuwara Eliya

Peradeniya Royal Botanical Gardens opens the day before the highland drive through Sri Lanka’s most beautiful tea estate landscapes to Nuwara Eliya – a journey past Gregory Lake, colonial rose gardens, and the tea estate viewpoints that define ‘Little England’ at its most evocative. A tea factory visit and tasting brings the day’s highland theme to a direct and sensory conclusion.

Day 05 - Horton Plains & World's End Dawn Walk

An early morning excursion to Horton Plains National Park – the circuit walk to World’s End must be completed before the mist rolls in – delivers the most dramatic natural viewpoint on the island, the 880-metre cliff edge of World’s End, in conditions of extraordinary clarity and atmosphere that reward the early start completely.

Day 06 - Scenic Mountain Drive to Ella - Nine Arch Bridge & Little Adam's Peak

The mountain road from Nuwara Eliya to Ella passes through some of Sri Lanka’s most spectacular highland scenery before arriving in the village for an afternoon at the Nine Arch Bridge and a sunset hike to Little Adam’s Peak’s panoramic summit ridge above the Ella Gap.

Day 07 - Haputale - Dambatenne Tea Factory & Coastal Drive to Hikkaduwa

The morning at Haputale includes the extraordinary Dambatenne Tea Factory – one of the most atmospheric and historically significant estate factories in Sri Lanka, surrounded by plantation landscapes of extraordinary beauty – before the scenic countryside drive south toward the coast and arrival at Hikkaduwa’s golden shore.

Day 08 - Hikkaduwa Snorkelling, Colombo & Heritage District Visit

A morning snorkelling session in Hikkaduwa’s vibrant coral reef waters is followed by the coastal expressway drive to Colombo for an afternoon in the city – Gangaramaya Temple, the colonial Fort and Pettah districts, and the heritage architecture of a capital that rewards one final engagement before departure.

Day 09 - Airport Transfer & Departure

A final morning in Colombo before the private transfer to Bandaranaike International Airport.
